Re: Letting Go

I killed a character off in one of my books, and it still upsets people to this day. Perhaps it was due to its tragic nature that it affected people so much, but it was necessary in order to push the main character toward the final battle. I agree that death is an inevitable element in an author's t...

Re: 2015-09-21 W.E. How Does Context Shape Dialog?

I'm pretty bad at dialogue, I'll just admit it. Almost every line I have includes a "beat" and I rarely just let the characters talk back and forth. Of course, I think the reason for this is I usually have three or more characters discussing something at any one time, so I need to add the beats to i...

Re: 2015-09-28 - W.E. Plot Twists

Never realized that plot twists were about changing genres . . . I thought they were surprises in the plot that weren't expected. As such, I usually don't purposely put these plot twists into my stories. Sometimes they just . . . "happen"? Often, I'll have something that some characters know, but ot...

Re: The real price of traditional publishing

at the end of the day, I still own my stories and I can share them with who I want. :) This is pretty much exactly why I self-publish. And considering the amount of self-published works that are starting to get picked up by traditional publishers (once the self-published stuff gains momentum, that ...

Re: The real price of traditional publishing

I'm a bit of a control freak, which is partly why I like self-publishing. Sure, it's more work on my end, but I can control where it's distributed, how it's distributed, and I can make any updates or changes I need to instead of being locked into a contract. I really haven't done any research on wha...

Re: Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore

I actually use the PPLD Overdrive app on my phone to listen to audio books for free.
Sometimes I have to get on a waitlist, but it's worth it.

Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore

Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore Listened to the audiobook for this and immediately went out and bought it. Such a great read, especially for authors who are trying to figure out how to handle publishing in this digital world, while still trying to hold to the classic form of ink on paper. Oh, and ...

Re: Website Redesign

I think it looks awesome. Definitely has a more refined feel compared to the previous site.

I also agree with the priorities of the To do list (list of events seems pretty critical, imho).

Re: [2015-10-24] Mile Hi Con Author's Table

I'm not sure I have the time before NaNoWriMo to work the table, but I do have some books that I'd like represented.
Send me a PM of what times work for you to meet so I can get them to you.
